“The audience were engaged and attentive and came away with some excellent advice and guidance.”
Mildred Talabi was a guest speaker at Solent University’s ‘Spotlight on Jobs and Employers’ event. Mildred spoke about the skills students and graduates require to enter the world of work and gave advice about the best ways to sell themselves. I was impressed with Mildred’s ability to connect to her audience and the positive approach she had to the session. The audience were engaged and attentive and came away with some excellent advice and guidance. Mildred also spoke on a panel about ‘Starting Your Own Business’ which again provided the students and graduates with relevant and practical advice based on her own experiences. What an inspiration! I would recommend to colleagues to hear Mildred speak at events in the future.
“It was a pleasure to have Mildred be part of our event. I found her to be very personable, knowledgeable and engaging.”
Mildred and I first connected professionally on Twitter, I then started following Mildred’s blog posts on her website. As a result of our connection on Twitter, I invited Mildred to be the keynote speaker at our careers and employability event for all University of Salford Postgraduates: Postgraduate Futures. During her talk, Mildred covered the power of networks, how social media is an invaluable tool in terms of getting ahead in hidden jobs market and successful CVs.
I would highly recommend Mildred as a speaker, she did her research in terms of the needs of the audience and set the right tone. It was a pleasure to have Mildred be part of our event, I found her to be very personable, knowledgeable and engaging with great anecdotes of her own career trajectory and recruiter’s perspective. She really did capture the mood, held the attention of the audience, using humour effectively to get across her key messages, and was a great addition to our employer Q&A panel afterwards.
“Mildred is an engaging and effective trainer – she combines great charm with the strength needed to keep the attention of [her audience].”
Mildred is an engaging and effective trainer – she combines great charm with the strength needed to keep the attention of 60 young people in parallel. She not only has trained as part of the Speakers Trust’s Challenge programme, but also a leading part of Toastmasters Youth Leadership training team in Toastmasters UK, training other people to deliver that programme.
“What an inspirational woman! A much-anticipated guest speaker.”
What an inspirational woman! Mildred attended our HR networking party last week as a much-anticipated guest speaker. Our members, many of whom are job-seekers, really appreciated her fun and practical words of wisdom, delivered in a way that they could relate to and take away to share with friends and colleagues.
“Mildred was highly engaging and held the students’ attention throughout.”
I invited Mildred to speak to our students and share some insights from her “Science of Successful Job Hunting” book. She was highly engaging and held the students’ attention throughout. She addressed key points and seemed very persuasive in encouraging students to engage professionally with social media. There was no hard sell, just an awareness of her books and expertise. Was a pleasure to have her on campus and our students benefitted from the time she gave.
“Thank you for giving such an inspiring talk and really reinforcing our core messages.”
Thank you Mildred for your guest speech at our myHRCareers summer party last night – YOU WERE AMAZING! Our members and clients just loved you, your energy, your wit, your charm and luckily for your next book, your incredible insights and advice. Your comment ‘it takes a village to find a job’ was particularly popular on the tweet stream and the whole room was truly engaged. From all of us here at myHRcareers, thank you for giving such an inspiring talk and really reinforcing our core messages.
“As a trainer you have immediate confidence in Mildred and feel you are in very safe hands.”
Mildred is very easy to listen to and very professional. As a trainer you have immediate confidence in her and feel you are in very safe hands. She comes across as a very happy combination of being very clear and precise and at the same time, warm and approachable.
“I found Mildred to be engaging, down to earth and interesting. The students seemed to warm to her very quickly.”
I was lucky enough to be invited to attend a talk that Mildred was giving to final year students at Southampton Solent University recently. I found Mildred to be engaging, down to earth and interesting. The students seemed to warm to her very quickly and she was therefore able to engage in a two way discussion with them on several occasions. She also succeeded in making them laugh a few times. Mildred’s talk was backed up by a PowerPoint presentation but it did not feel like death by PowerPoint. She obviously knew her stuff and just used the images and videos on the screen to illustrate what she was saying. Following the talk I sought out Mildred’s book on CV writing to ensure that we held a copy in the Universities careers library, which I am glad to say we do. Prior to attending this talk I had heard only good things about Mildred, I was therefore delighted to be invited. I am glad to say that Mildred did not disappoint and I would strongly recommend anyone else to attend a talk she is giving if given the chance.
“Mildred is a passionate speaker and a great motivator – very good at engaging the audience.”
Mildred’ talk at the seminar organised by HindLeap was awesome!! She was very good at engaging the audience by asking them questions and allowing them to participate. What was also really good was the fact that Mildred constantly made references to how she had applied the techniques she was speaking about in her life. She is a passionate speaker and a great motivator.
“Mildred wowed both students and careers staff alike with an engaging and informative talk that was just the right balance.”
Mildred delivered a guest lecture to our undergrads on the realities of the job market & the benefits of social media to the job hunt. Mildred wowed both students and careers staff alike with an engaging and informative talk that was just the right balance of motivating the students to take action regarding their future careers while also calming some of their nerves by showing the truth behind the headlines relating to the job market. Mildred is a fantastic public speaker who knows her stuff! I would recommend her to anyone!
“Mildred’s expertise helped the student’s to understand the current job market and prepare themselves to ensure they are in the best position to have a successful future.”
Mildred delivered a great guest speaker session to our students at The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, Solihull College. She was very friendly, professional and innovative during her presentation. As the students are coming to an end of their course, Mildred’s expertise helped them to understand the current job market and prepare themselves to ensure they are in the best position to have a successful future. Mildred was very approachable and honest, traits that go a long way with students.
Mildred delivered an excellent CV workshop for the students at West Thames College, providing them with useful insights about how to stand out in a fiercely competitive job market.”
Mildred delivered an excellent CV workshop for the students at West Thames College, providing them with useful insights about how to write a CV and how to stand out in a fiercely competitive job market. Students were engaged and asked good questions. All students commented that they learned a lot from the workshop and gratefully received a signed copy of Mildred’s book as well.
“If you want an engaging careers talk that’s practical and full of substance then hire Mildred!”
If you want an engaging careers talk that’s practical and full of substance then hire Mildred! Mildred helped transform the CVs of a group of teenagers from Croydon with her great insights drawn from her own experience of hiring staff. She doesn’t get her ideas from handouts on CVs, in fact she wrote a book on one! So on many counts she’s more than qualified to deliver a careers talk focused on CVs.
“Mildred ran a session on creative CVs and it was very well received. She is inspirational.”
Mildred ran a session on creative CVs with our creative media students here at Solent University and it was very well received. She also co-hosted a session on Pitching. She is inspirational.
